To Be Continued Rewound deals with the unmaking of a To Be Continued sideboard cabinet.
The piece, which got heavily damaged during the transport back from an exhibition, was declared total loss by the official surveyor appointed by the insurance company. In order to be able to process to the indemnification of the studio for the loss, the insurance company requested the complete destruction of the piece.
We thought it would be more interesting to turn this meaningless destruction into a project in itself, into a kind of performance. Therefore, in order to help us along our mourning process we decided to destroy this piece in the opposite way it was produced, layer after layer starting from the last one made. The shape of the sideboard therefore slowly mutates back to its original rigid silhouette before it vanishes.
